Lois Nachamie, MFA, LCSW-R, is a board-certified psychotherapist and couples counselor in private practice in New York City. Specializing in parenting issues, she also treats a wide variety of concerns, including relationships, anxiety, depression, professional success, and life transitions --from becoming a parent to the other side of the developmental curve: end-of-life issues. Using an integrative approach, including traditional psychodynamic talk therapy, CBT, mind/body work and clinical hypnotherapy, she treats smoking cessation, weight-related difficulties and stress reduction, among other problems.

A Parents Choice Award-winning author, her last two books were So Glad We Waited: A Hand-Holding Guide for Over-35 Parents, with a foreword by Debra Winger and Big Lessons for Little People: Teaching Our Kids Right from Wrong While Keeping Them Healthy, Safe and Happy. She is currently working on a book with the working title From Cradle to Grave: Death is a Parenting Issue.

A parent educator for almost thirty years, Ms. Nachamie lectures nationally and locally and has been featured on television, radio and in print, including The Today Show, New York Magazine, NPR, Health Magazine, and Newsweek.

Recently receiving certification in The Art of Dying, an end of life counseling program, Ms. Nachamie has begun addressing death, not only one's own mortality, but also how to handle death in the context of being both a parent and an adult child.

What critics have to say...

So Glad We Waited: A Hand-Holding Guide for Over-35 Parents. “Eminently wise and practical...impassioned, opinionated, wryly humorous, and ultimately reassuring as [Nachamie] plumbs the emotional depths of this profoundly life-altering experience. ”
--Starred review, Publishers Weekly
“Offers warm yet realistic advice...including step-by-step guidelines for dealing with a variety of specific problems. Original."
